Tacoma Weekly moved from a 2-section broadsheet format to a 1-section tabloid format in the spring of 2018. I was responsible for both resizing and updating the look of the paper. My main focus was making the visual branding look more modern and achieving better readability throughout. I accomplished this with the implementation of bolder, easier to read typefaces, a consistent color palette, a heavier focus on photography, and a more condensed grid system.
